Honey_Bunn,

Point taken. I would just say that both of those albums are all covers, so it isn't her music so much as her singing. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

In 2005 Carly Simon released an album titled MOONLIGHT SERENADE that debuted at #7 on the Billboard charts and in 2007 her album INTO WHITE reached #13. Quite remarkable achievements after 40 years in the recording business. You may have not been excited about her music, but many people have been! :)

Sorry. Cabbagetown is not a slum. The person probably just doesn't like it due to its history or prior unfavourable occurrences in the area. Having lived in several parts of the country, I will give you a run-down of our run-down areas now.

Our version of a slum (in Toronto) would be the Jane-Finch area (now labeled "University Heights"). External to the city that never cares we have Vancouver City with its shanty-town area. If we go to the East, Halifax had some pretty run-down slummy areas and a few shanty areas. But, the worst I've withnessed is probably in back of Kentville, NS. There are old car bodies, rusting and rotting away behind the quaint town of Kentville. People live in them.

Here are some links to websites with more info:

There is a short documentary about gang crime on the Jane-Finch site. I used to live in that neighbourhood.

Do these electronic cigarettes really feel like the real thing? I watched a video at this website but don't know what to think. Are there any real smokers out there that aren't promoting a product that can tell me what you really think?

It is so frustrating that politicians can say whatever they want, even lies, with no consequences. It seems like it is mostly Republicans, i.e. Gingrich about the citizenship of the shoe bomber, a lie I heard first-hand. But, I know it is most of them as well as corporation bosses. I can see the benefit of this blog business because the blogs do call out the lies. Why doesn't the mainstream media do the same? Lazy or corrupt?

And, if President Obama was a socialist ideologue, why is his base so mad at him?

Not a slum. The area used to be desperately poor but has been flourishing more and more since the 1970s. A huge public housing area just south of us is being flattened and rebuilt and that should add even more vitality to the neighbourhood.
Now it's a designated heritage district so that our Victorian legacy can be properly cared for.
Come back soon - see for yourself.

There is nothing wrong with a strategy to throw off a good quarterback's skill with pressure or even hits but the Saints went way beyond honorable strategy in trying to hurt Farve. There were late hits not called and many almost late hits performed with brutality. The Brady rule was put into place because Brady's hit placed him on the sideline for a season; Farve didn't miss a play but not because the Saints didn't try. But, there is no doubt he was hurt due to the physical beating he took at the hands of the Saints. Before that game, I was a Saints fan but now they join the ranks of the Bears and the Raiders in my mind-no class or skill just brute force.

I think the Republicans are behaving as badly. They have no ideas, no vision. They just want to destroy the opposition which is a little easier than the Saints destroying the Vikings because the Democrats don't have great vision either.

I agree. It is bewildering that Obama is best speaker I have ever heard and he promised transparency, yet, I do not know what is going on. My mind cannot take it all in.

I am furious Congress couldn't get something done with health care. I blame mostly Pelosi. Well, and the Republicans, but the Democrats could have done it without them and didn't.
